Vaping and E-Cigarettes in Thailand
September 13, 2026Electronic cigarettes, or vapes, are banned in Thailand. This applies to both the devices themselves and the liquids used in them. The sale of e-cigarettes and e-liquid is also prohibited in the country.
Bringing Vapes Into Thailand Is Prohibited
Thai Customs classifies electronic cigarettes as goods that are prohibited from being imported into the country. Travelers to Thailand are therefore not allowed to bring a vape or e-cigarettes in their luggage. The ban also applies to refill e-liquid.
It does not matter if it is just a single vape intended for personal use. It is still covered by the import ban.
But Aren’t They Sold in Thailand?
Despite the ban, it is not uncommon to see vapes being sold in the country, including by some beach vendors. That does not mean they are legal.
Thai authorities continue to seize electronic cigarettes and are actively working to combat illegal importation and sales. During the first quarter of 2026, Thai Customs seized more than 52,000 electronic cigarettes and related accessories. Anyone selling these types of products risks up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 600,000 baht, or both.
